Advice

I'm thinking about volunteering to write for a blog that documents the downtown LA artwalk.... should be cake for me and will force me to get down there and actually talk to people.

But is that a good investment of my time? And I would need a sub the first thursday of every month and lose out on pay.........

opinions pls --    :)

  1. Blogging about an artwalk seems like it would be an interesting project, and you would meet people making work - which I always like. I don't know what your job is, but if you're an art teacher couldn't you make the artwalk part of the course?

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, looks like this blog has an interesting group of artists contributing to it.

  2. I think you should do it! It will be really good for you to have a reason to connect with people. When I am on a photoshoot and I have my camera I can talk to anyone. This is because I have assumed a role that is not me. When you go to a show as a writer, you will assume that role and it will help you break out of your shell. You will not be just "valerie" the random girl who wants to make connections, but Valerie the person who needs to network and make connections for her story. People will also be happy to talk to you because they will value your opinion and hope you see them in a good light.

I think this is what you need.
